Weekends on a Budget!

Family time is so important to both my husband and I, that was one of the things that attracted me to him. But I know that nowadays things are so expensive even just going out to dinner as a family can end up costing an arm and a leg! We are a Dave Ramsey family, we follow and believe in his financial advice, budget forms and have now created a solid foundation for our family when it comes to our finances. So, we strive to find family friendly activities that won't break the bank! Most people for good reason don't believe that can be done! But just to prove you can have some great family time on a minimum budget I wanted to share with you how we shared our weekend together!

Don't forget about the Drive-In! It is a great American pass time for a good reason, it's fun! Our 4 year loves to grab a pizza and camp out at the Drive-In for a movie. Our routine for our movie nights is to stop by Little Caesar Pizza [$5 bucks for a pizza and no wait]! If you don't have a Little Caesar's near you then check for carry out specials, I know Domino's has a $5.99 carry out special. Then we swing by the gas station to pick up a beverage for each of us and then it's onto the Drive-In!

Also, don't forget to ask for a discount! Especially if you or your husband serves the community in some way. Since my husband is a fire fighter, we only pay $1 per person in the vehicle instead of the regular price of $7 per person. So, make sure you ask because you never know what they may offer! Most places offer some sort of discount for veterans, public service or hospital employees. Mason of course wanted to see ParaNorman so with our pizza and chairs we set up "camp" for the movie! Best part about the Drive-In is that it can also double as a date night for my husband and I! The kids movies are usually shown first so by the time their movie is over they are ready for bed. Once both kids are passed out we get comfy and get to spend some time together watching a nice non cartoon movie! By the end of the night we had spent a total of $16.00 which included pizzas, drinks and two new release movies! That was our Friday night, not bad for a family of four!

Saturday was a bright new day! Slightly tired from the late night at the Drive-In but feeling pretty good overall! It was all about the park, the weather was perfect! There were a few things we needed to pick up for the week [baby food, diapers etc] we like to pick up those sort of things along with toilette's from our local flea market. The products are just as good as the store brands and we save a good amount of money on the day to day stuff! Just always make sure to check the expiration dates and that all items are properly sealed. Anyhow onto the park, we spent a nice afternoon at the local park which has a nice bike path surrounding it for Mason to ride his bike on!

Best part about playing at the park, riding bikes and enjoying the great weather...it's free! Needless to say once we got home both kids passed out! We had a great weekend and we don't feel guilty about over spending on anything!
