The "Talent"

What an exciting week it has been around here!!! Back in November a friend of my husband's referred us to a casting agency for baby models, I really did not think much would come of it but I went ahead and sent in a few photos of Nash that I had just taken of him being his silly self around the house. I was surprised to hear back from her the very next day requesting that we bring Nash in for a test shoot. My husband took him up to Atlanta the following day and told me that they were so impressed with how good of a baby he is and how easy it was for them to get a good picture of him smiling [like it literally took them two minutes, my husband said it was taking all the other babies WAY longer]!

After a few months plus the crazy holiday season I kind of forgot all about it, then we received an email that Nash had booked his first job [so ridiculously, over the moon, crazy excited]! At first the details were very limited, but we found out yesterday when my husband showed up at the shoot [as much as I would LOVE to take Nash to these shoots apparently I create a distraction for him...he will not perform when I am around...all he wants is for me to snuggle him. So it's daddy duty at these modeling gigs] he found out that the product was a Disney Car themed baby walker and it was a video shoot instead of a photo shoot! He said it was pretty cool, there were like 15 people working the set and it was filmed in this vacant home and they literally just had the living room decorated for the shoot...even had the ground tracks for the camera and the lighting all around! As far as we know right now the video is going to be used as a promotional video for the this website which sells all kinds of baby toys, we are not sure yet if it will air on television. Plus, he has another test shoot scheduled in February to update his file for future jobs! Vince said he was by far the best baby with the walker and that he really did cheese it up for the cameras [that's my boy]! Mason was also with them and helped out so much with keeping Nash happy and in a good mood, the casting agent said she thought Mason would be great for modeling as well and gave us the name of an agency that specializes in older kids, so I am going to be submitting Mason's information and photos this week! Just the idea that these boys could make some extra money to go into they're savings account for when they get older and all that have to do is be their cute, silly, adorable selves!

Nash on set!
In other news...
I am still working on themes for Nash's first birthday party at the end of February. I know that I definitely want to go with some sort of beachy, nautical, fish/whale theme and colors I am thinking are dark blues, light greens and silver...here what I have found so far that I like!

Nash also got his VERY first haircut this week! To be honest...I did not want to cut his hair [like never ever cut it] I love his blonde locks BUT with the shoot I wanted him to look his best and his hair was starting to hang down over his ears pretty noticeably so I took him for a quick trim ONLY around the ears and just a little cleaning up in the back but they didn't cut any on top or in the front! I was a little nervous since most people tell me that kids scream during their first haircuts but nope...not my kid...he just sat there and held still...didn't move, didn't cry, he was so good! It also helped I'm sure that his bubba was sitting in the chair right next to him getting his hair trimmed up around his ears as well! As soon as Nash saw his bubba sitting still and not crying it was like Nash thought "Okay, this is cool. My bubba is calm so I will be calm too". I just couldn't believe it!

Weekend Fun!

I love our weekends! There is nothing better than spending time with my little family and friends. Mason's basketball game was awesome, he has not sunk a basket during a game yet but he did make three shots during practice so he is getting there!

We started the weekend off right with a night of bowling with friends! Mason's little "girl" friend Ashlyn got to join us and they were so cute together, Mas [who has bowled a total of maybe five times in his entire life] was trying to coach her on how to bowl and they were sharing a seat together the whole time.
Pizza+Bowling+Two 4 Year Old's Trying to "Out" Bowl Each Other=Priceless!

Nash had a very eventful day, he is finally big enough to swing by himself [ugh...the cutest overload was almost unbearable]! Oh course, I took just shy of a zillion pictures! I love it when he reaches another milestone, even the little ones make me so excited!

I also managed to get in a quick project during nap-time as well [yes. I am super Mom]! I have had all these pictures that I printed back when Nash was first born and there really is no way to put up all the pictures of Mas and Nash without completely covering every wall in the house! So, I decided to finally try a photo project that I found on Pinterest [of course]!

One Love!

So...Valentine's Day is approaching fast and even though I stand behind the same opinion I have for the last 29 years on this holiday [totally a Hallmark holiday to sell cards, candy and flowers] now that I have kids, I'm not gonna lie that it is umber cute and super sweet when they give me "mommy flowers"! I actually love the idea more of getting flowers from my boys then I do getting them from my husband [yea...I'm a little weird, I am aware of this]. There was a time where Mas was obsessed with picking out flowers for me, my husband said they couldn't walk past flowers in a store without Mas asking him if they could get some for me [is that not the cutest thing ever?]. Even though this is totally a commercial holiday, it does make me smile that I have three amazing men in my life who are all my valentine this year! My main Valentine is off on the 14th so I am thinking we will do a family night...maybe have breakfast for dinner [hmmm...pink pancakes]...we could make those cute looking red velvet cupcakes I've seen all over Pinterest...rent a movie for the boys to watch with us! Yes. These ideas make me happy and I am sure Mas and Nash will love eating sweets and cuddling on the couch with us!

In other Harris news...
The countdown to NASH'S 1st BIRTHDAY celebration has begun, T-minus 37 days until his party! I am so excited to see everyone and celebrate, just purchased his "One Rocks" birthday outfit today from Etsy [becoming addicted to that marketplace] and personalized it with his name! Still working on the smash/cupcakes and what type of decorations I want but we did find the perfect place to have it, there is a beach lagoon for swimming and snorkeling plus a dock to fish and a playground for the kids too! I cannot even wrap my head around that he is going to be 11 months on the 29th...seriously. Where does the time go?!?! He is even starting to act more like a little boy then a baby "sigh" I am definitely not ready yet for him to be independent [there I said it out loud...I will admit that I love that he needs me]!

He looks like a little boy now!
We also signed Mas up for basketball, his first game was last Saturday and he did so good! It was awesome to see him really get into it and he was trying his hardest, by the time the game was over he was covered in sweat! I am so proud of how well he listened to the coaches and he didn't cry or get frustrated at all! We also got him all signed and ready for soccer again...soccer really does seem like his sport of choice but we want to make sure he gets a chance to try them all!
So proud of that handsome boy!
I can't wait until he starts baseball...he is going to be a lady killer in that uniform! Oh...the pictures I will get...funny I know boys hate pictures and as adults I know they never bring them out and show them off...but dammit I'm still gonna take a million of them!

I am totally "one of those mom's"...Bahahaha!!!

Hello 2013...

I feel like it’s been months since I've blogged and I have totally been meaning to [I mean really. It’s been on my “to do” list for about two weeks now] but our household has been under siege since the very first day of the new year, fighting an invasion of massive proportions…the FLU [and we totally went down in flames]! It all started with my husband and I am now just getting over it to the point where I am starting to feel less and less like a pruned up wad of mucus! So, needless to say I have some catching up to do on here! A lot of things have happened since my last blog…so here we go!

Happy New Year!!! [yea yea…a day late a buck short, I know]
I had wanted to celebrate the end of 2012, but honestly this was the day that the dreaded flu came knocking on my door so I didn't feel much like celebrating [or sitting up right or speaking or having my eyes open for that matter] but I did manage to get a least a few cute pictures of Nash in his New Year’s outfit…so it wasn't a complete fail.

My wedding anniversary is also on the 1st [1/1/11…done completely on purpose because of how bad my memory is]. My husband had to work his 24 hours at the fire department so instead we celebrated the day before! Apparently, in wedding anniversary traditions for the second year you are suppose to be gifted with “cotton”…[really two years in only gets me cotton??? I have to say that I was just a little bit disappointed when I found out I have to wait until the 10th year to really start getting the good shit]. So, we decided to finally caved in and buy a new mattress! We also decided to go from a queen to a king size bed…which my husband did not take the time to think through thoroughly, if he had he never would have suggested a king because of how much money we ended up spending on everything I am sure! So, for our anniversary we ended up buying a new mattress, bedroom set including two nightstands and a dresser, matching lamps and bedding…then we went a little bat shit crazy and bought a new entertainment center for the living room, loft bed for Mason, two storage units for Mason’s room, and a stainless steel cart for cooking [yea not sure how all that other stuff happened, but we came home with it so I guess there’s no going back now]! Now that I that I think about it cotton wasn't a bad gift at all! But really, it is not about any gifts just another year to mark our happy life together [which by the way has been an amazing journey so far] so just because I feel like taking a stroll down memory lane here are a few pictures from our happy day!

By the way…Mason, who was not expecting a new loft bed and room storage bins was over the moon excited for us to put it all together for him. He has such a big boy room now [kind of makes me a little sad, he really is a kid now and not so much a toddler anymore]! His loft bed is a full size so he has plenty of room up there and we tucked his twin bed just underneath to give it that “bunk bed” feel. Needless to say we don’t see him much anymore, he enjoys being camped out in his room and occasionally will let his “bubba” in to explore.

What a great year it has been so far [minus that little bout with the flu] and we have so much coming up to look forward too! My parents coming to visit, Nash 1st birthday and our date night concerts, hoping for another bun in the oven at some point at the beginning of this year too!
